Burundi is a small landlocked country located in Central Africa with about ten million inhabitants. Burundi is one of the poorest countries in Africa. It is also the second most densely populated country in Africa. The economy is largely dependent on agriculture, which accounts for 80% of the population, even though arable land is scarce. Poverty mainly affects small farmers in rural areas. Most of the population lives in rural areas.
